Christine Copeland

"...working as a Makeup artist in Las Vegas is the ultimate. The city has become so cosmopolitan and fashionable in the last 15 years. With all the photography, film and video work here now, and of course you can't forget the party and wedding makeup, I can't imagine working anywhere else. I love doing beauty, glamour and fashion makeups, and with all the Las Vegas weddings I have found that doing wedding makeup and hair styling to be so rewarding on so many levels. Making women look beautiful and exciting is what I enjoy doing. it makes me feel so good to know that when I finish they feel happy and proud of how they look..."

Christiné (pronounced Kris-tee-nuh) Copeland has lived in the US since 1987 after marrying American photographer John Copeland who she had met and worked with in Munich, Germany.

Christiné left the small village where she grew up and moved to Munich at age 17 and studied cosmetology there. It was there after finishing her training that she worked as an aesthetician for a highly respected salon and worked in all the realms of the beauty and skin care business. After working several years there, she was offered a position assisting, well known and respected make up artist and hairstylist Uschi Borsche from the German film industry. Frau Borshce had been a long time client of Christinés at the salon. Frau Borsche had just opened a large photography studio that was fast becoming a hub for much of the fashion and commercial photo productions being done in Munich at that time. Christine assisted Frau Borshce with makeup, handled much of the model grooming and assisted in the operation, scheduling and customer service for clients such as the German editions of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Clare, and many others.

While working at the studio she met John who was shooting there. He worked shooting glamour and centerfold layouts for the German edition of Penthouse magazine. Christiné had learned English in the school and seeing her natural talent and love for the work, he had asked Christine to help on his layouts when Frau Borsche was unavailable. She jumped at the opportunity and studied hard. She took training Christine doing makeup classes under another famed German makeup artist Horst Kirchberger. When John started shooting for the German edition of Playboy he asked her to come and work for him full time there. From that day on Christiné did all of his makeup including all his covers, feature layouts and centerfolds. She also helped with the styling, translating and working with the models.

When John decided to return to the U.S. they had been working together closely for almost two full years. They had become more than co-workers and he asked her to marry and come to Los Angeles with him. Soon they found themselves living in a 2400 sq. ft. photo studio / loft in the funkier part of South Hollywood. They hooked up with some agents who sent them models and singers, and lots of wanna be actors and began doing a lot of model portfolios, headshots, portraits and magazine layouts. Christiné got accepted with HMS Bookings agency for fashion and commercial makeup work and through them and other contacts worked with a wide variety of different photographers and production companies.

In 1992 the riots in L.A. left buildings burned down very close to their studio, and in 1994 the earthquake shook the studio so violently it damaged much of their belongings. They decided that it may be time to leave Los Angeles. They moved to Las Vegas and bought a home in the Southwest like they could never have afforded in L.A. and setup a small studio just off the strip. They have never for a moment regretted the move and have only been back to L.A. on a few special occasions since. After taking off a few years to see if being a housewife suited her, ("it was fun at first..." she said, " I do love to cook...but it got boring pretty fast") Christiné came back more excited and invigorated about doing makeup than ever before. She is now among the very top in her field in Las Vegas, and has shown the versatility by doing both makeup and hairstyling, skill and talent that keeps her working regularly in all genres. Photoshoots, film, tv/video, weddings and special events all keep her traveling through the city on her daily rounds, most every day, working to help keep Las Vegas one of America's most beautiful cities.
